EUREFAS – The European Refurbishment Association strengthens its voice with record membership and renewed focus on legislative change
EUREFAS, the European Refurbishment Association, proudly announces a milestone in its growth: with 25 pioneering companies now united under one banner, the association has reached its highest number of members to date—an achievement that underscores the rising momentum of refurbishment across Europe.
Welcoming four new members, Twist, Circular IT Group, Cyculus, and Ecotech, EUREFAS continues to expand its representation across Europe. Together, members span 13 countries and include leading players in the refurbishment of consumer electronics and IT equipment.
As refurbishment gains relevance in the fight for a more sustainable future, EUREFAS’ mission is clearer than ever: to drive change, influence policy, and establish refurbishment as a key pillar of the circular economy.
“The growing interest in refurbishment reflects both an industry shift and a societal one”, said Augustin Becquet, president of EUREFAS. “Consumers, businesses, and governments are waking up to the urgency of rethinking how we use and reuse technology. With more members than ever, we’re ready to make real impact: Starting by pushing for modern, supportive legislation that reflects today’s environmental and digital challenges”.
The growth of EUREFAS comes at a critical moment. Outdated and unfitted regulatory frameworks continue to limit the potential of the refurbishment market, and policy tools are often misaligned with today’s sustainability goals. EUREFAS is committed to challenging and improving this status quo, with the ultimate goal of making refurbished products more accessible, reliable, and recognized across the EU.
The association continues to call for:
- A level playing field for the European refurbishment sector to sustain a strong and efficient single market;
- Ensuring product repairability for all, consumers and independent repairers and expanding the Right to Repair;
- The promotion of a standardised label to ensure consumers’ confidence through an EU-wide quality label;
- Prioritizing reuse over recycling and supporting collection schemes to boost European supply;
- More legal clarity with a legal framework tailored to second-hand sector specifics.
In this context, EUREFAS has recently been appointed as a member of the Ecodesign Forum to lay down ecodesign principles on new products and ensure repairability, and has joined the European Commission Expert Group on Waste.
With industry expertise and a collaborative mindset, EUREFAS is also working to build bridges between businesses, institutions, and consumers. The association believes refurbishment is not a niche, but a necessity, a powerful tool to reduce carbon emissions, extend product lifecycles, and build a more resilient European economy.
As the European Commission’s Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) gains traction, EUREFAS is more determined than ever to ensure refurbishment is at the center of these efforts.
The association remains open to new members, especially companies committed to quality, transparency, and sustainability. Together, EUREFAS members represent a dynamic and rapidly evolving market—one that is ready to shape the future.
