Brussels - June 2023
EUREFAS- The European Refurbishment Association announces new Board of Directors and goals for 2023/2024
EUREFAS, which currently counts almost 20 members, gathered in Brussels in June 2023 for its third annual General Assembly. Here, the bylaws were discussed, goals defined for each working group, and the members interacted with key EU stakeholders of the European Institutions, such as a policy advisor to Pascal CANFIN MEP and a member of Didier REYNDERS' cabinet. Some of the main topics that were discussed included ESPR and Right to Repair regulations.
As one of the first agenda points during the 2023 General Assembly, a new board was voted by the members of the association. The Board of Directors for the next three years now includes:
- Stefan Nilsson, Foxway
- Augustin Becquet, Recommerce
- Kilian Kaminski, refurbed
- Felix Martin, Reware
- Jori Ahvonen, Swappie
The goal of the new board and the organisation overall is to create positive social and environmental impact by supporting the growth of the refurbishment industry while fully representing all European countries to increase influence and credibility within the European political sphere.
Since founding EUREFAS in 2021, the association has been able to achieve a number of different goals that were initially set, including pushing ten legislative initiatives in line with the organisation’s political agenda and being identified as a key stakeholder by European decision makers. For the upcoming months, EUREFAS members have committed to:
- Continue to engage in critical files with EU policymakers to ensure a fair and adapted legal framework for refurbishment and to make refurbished products as competitive as new devices
- Continue to develop a EU Label on Refurbishment Quality
“The European Union should be the leader in refurbishment, and we need to come together as players within the industry to create a framework that allows us to grow to fulfil the common mission to have a positive impact within the electronics industry, and ultimately lead the world by example.” Augustin Becquet, co-founder and Chairman of EUREFAS
